چکیده
The Kamchatka Peninsula lies on the eastern active margin of Eurasia, adjacent to Kuril-Kamchatka subduction zone. In this study, we provide a geomorphological map Central Depression – largest sedimentary basin in and also all island arcs North Pacific. depression extends along at latitudes ∼44–46° N for more than 400 km is up 100 wide. designed scale 1:500,000 contains ∼3000 mapped objects. Volcanic tectonic landforms have been collected from published sources generalised scale. Glacial fluvial using remote sensing data field surveys. Areas ambiguous interpretation outlined. This most detailed region that may guide further paleogeographical investigations.

First arrivals of seismic waves were recorded along the Kamchatka arc using broadband seismic stations deployed for one year in 1998–1999. Cross correlation methods were used from a high resolution data set for tomographic inversion of body waves. The P-wave teleseismic tomography shows evidence of slab shoaling along the northern terminus of the Kamchatka subduction zone. Tomographic anomalies...
متن کاملAverage shear-wave velocity structure of the Kamchatka peninsula from the dispersion of surface waves
An average shear-wave velocity structure has been estimated for the path between the Kamchatka Isthmus and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski. It is obtained from the Monte Carlo inversion of the Rayleigh and Love wave group velocity dispersion curves measured using broad-band seismograms of events in Northern Kamchatka recorded by the IRIS station PET in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski. The Moho interface was ...
متن کاملFe-Si biominerals in the Vilyuchinskie hot springs, Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia.
The micromorphological structure of microbial mats (biomats) from the hot springs of the Vilyuchinskaya hydrothermal system, Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia, were investigated. The Vilyuchinskie hot springs had a discharge temperature of 55-56 degrees C and Na-Ca-HCO3-type waters rich in silicic and boric acids. Water and biomats had high concentrations of Fe, Mn, Sr, and As. Enumeration of total b...
متن کاملMicrobial Diversity and Biochemical Potential Encoded by Thermal Spring Metagenomes Derived from the Kamchatka Peninsula
Volcanic regions contain a variety of environments suitable for extremophiles. This study was focused on assessing and exploiting the prokaryotic diversity of two microbial communities derived from different Kamchatkian thermal springs by metagenomic approaches. Samples were taken from a thermoacidophilic spring near the Mutnovsky Volcano and from a thermophilic spring in the Uzon Caldera. Envi...
